Chinovi Cosmetics Swatches - Pic Heavy

Hello all! I hope your week is going well! This weather is scorchio, isn't it?

I ordered some samples from Chinovi Cosmetics about a month ago and they came through yesterday. One of the things I love most about ordering things from the US are the sweeties sellers sometimes include! I'm a massive fan of Americana, especially yummy edible things.

Everything came in a cute pink paper bag

The clamshells have a heaped 1/8th tea spoon of product in and a little goes a very long way.

This is how they open up:

Swatches - lots of:

Swatched on bare skin using a slightly damp sponge applicator (because they're a lot easier to clean quickly than proper eyeshadow brushes.)

Unicorn
Tree
Secrets
Sauced
Rock On
Princess
Preserve
Poww
Party
Monster
Hiccup
Dream
Amen

Onto the hand swatches so you can see how these babies shift in the light.

At the moment Chinovi only do samples. 13 samples cost $10 and you can buy them here. They also do sample baggies and a pack of 20 clamshells.

This is what happens when you don't open a clamshell carefully enough :)

The colours are absolutely stunning. There are no full sizes on the website at the moment, I think because they haven't officially launched the store online yet. I will probably order more clamshell samples soon. As soon as full sizes are available I'll be getting a few.

My favourite colours of the bunch are Sauced, Princess, Poww, Hiccup and Amen. If I had to pick an absolute fave I think it'd be Hiccup. It's just beautiful.

What do you think about Chinovi? Are you tempted to buy some samples?

Week up to 20th May Instagram photos

Hi all. It's that time of the week again!

I haven't taken many photos this week on Instagram because I've been playing with my new toy - the Canon EOS550D camera which can take HD video and 18 mega pixel photos. It's very nice.

On to the photos from this week, then.

New camera, squeeeeeee!

I've managed to keep secret from you so far my love of the PG Tips monkey. I have 2 toy monkeys and now this large tin full of tea. It was £5 for the tin and 160 tea bags.

Scrubby gloves. I used these yesterday and applied baby oil afterwards. Ooh, soft as a baby's botty.

Pretty hair bands to distinguish them from J's hairbands - he has longer and better hair than me :)

My new yoga mat. I'm still waiting for the yoga DVD's I ordered to arrive, in the meantime I'll be hugging it as it feels SOOOOOOOOOOO good. It's an extra thick one because of my Fibro-buggered joints. It's lovely.

I bought a few bits of jewellery from eBay, including this ship brooch...

...and this faux leather cuff.

Tea and cake with my ex-boss whilst I helped him work out his new touch screen phone to stop him chucking it into the sea out of frustration.

About a quarter of his book collection.

Pac Man prawn cracker at my aunt's. We went visiting the family yesterday.

My aunt's tiny remote control. My gawd, look at it!

Bewbs and dirty mirror in my aunt's mirror. Accidental coordination of cardigan and phone case :)

I won some Barry M goodies

Lovely Liloo ran a competition to win some Barry M makeup and I won, yippee!

I love Barry M products and have done ever since I discovered them. On to the goodies...

There was a lovely card.

The nail polish is a lovely navy - you can see a crappy swatch on a piece of paper there but I'll paint my nails this weekend and show you pics soon after.

The two waterproof eyeliners are gorgeous.

The black is super inky and the purple is shot with pink glitter. I can confirm that once these babies have set they aren't going anywhere. You will have to scrub them off. I've had them on the back of my hand for several hours, have washed my hands a couple of times and they're still there. They are butter soft and won't drag on anyone's delicate eye area. I'm sold! They come in 7 colours (black, blue, bronze, gun metal, purple, silver and gold) and cost just £3.99 each. I'll get a couple more next time I'm in town, most likely gun metal and bronze.

Here I am wearing my wedding ring and engagement ring back to front to keep my e ring from falling off!

Here we are after another good scrub with hand wash and a very rough wipe with a towel. Buy with confidence!

Do you have anything by Barry M?

I find their nail polishes to be very good, both in colour and in formulation. I have a lot of their loose eyeshadows and their lipsticks are awesome too. Ah God, I'm talking myself into a trip to their website now. Noooooo!

You can find the bold waterproof eyeliners here

Two deodorants and some scrubby shower gloves

Hello all!

My new camera arrived yesterday and I've been busy snapping away with it.

I wanted to talk about 2 deodorants I bought recently, which are both good for different reasons.

First, I saw this One Planet natural deodorant in Asda for £1 for 50ml. At that price I had nothing to lose, and I was attracted by the natural aspect of it as it's made from Rosemary and Sage.

It made my underarms feel really nice and they resembled a badly plucked chicken a lot less than usual, but I didn't find it kept me dry all the time. It's quite watery, and once when I was applying it with gusto, I got some in my eye. It didn't hurt at all, so if you tend to get deodorant in your eye a lot, you could do worse than this one, ha! It smells herbal, but not unpleasant. I would say this would be ideal for someone with the environment and avoiding chemicals in mind, and it could be a great starter deodorant for a teen girl, but isn't ideal if you want a powdery dry feeling all day.

My next venture into B.O. bashers was this one by Mitchum, and this is what I'll buy as long as they make it. It is available in Asda for £2 for 100ml.

It keeps me dry all the time, smells like Johnson's baby talc (which is like crack to me) and is a large roll on. They also do an aerosol version of this deodorant, also £2, for 200ml.

What deodorant do you use? Have you used the same one forever or do you try something different every time? Are you a roll on or an aerosol gal?

I use roll on most of the year but aerosols in the summer. I'm not brave enough to use spray deodorant in winter! Brrr, shiver me timbers!

---

I also wanted to talk about scrubby gloves, which I've been using for years on and off to keep my skin lovely and soft. They're kinda like brillo pads for the body and they make you as soft as a baby's bum afterwards.

I got these in Asda for £1.32 in the toiletries aisle, but Poundland sometimes does them. You could use them dry (if you're brave enough) to brush your skin with, but I use them wet. You can give yourself a good exfoliate with them with just water, but I like to kill two birds with one stone so I squeeze as much shower gel onto them as I would do if I were using a shower puff thingy, and lather up while I'm giving myself a good scrub. I wouldn't advise using them on your delicate bits though, as they're pretty rough. Oww! Slap a bit of body lotion on yourself while you're still damp afterwards and you won't be able to keep your hands off yourself!

You can put them in a 60 degree wash once in a while to kill the germs off.

Have you ever used 'brillo pad' gloves?

Me in a nutshell

How much of ourselves do we successfully put over on our blogs?

I'm quite rubbish at varying my blog posts enough to talk about the things I like, so I thought I'd do a 'my life in a nutshell' post.

I have Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (M.E.) so it touches upon every area of my life. I'm not all 'woe is me' about it. As long as I draw breath I'm happy to be alive. The alternative is so final! I adapt to each obstacle as it comes, roll with the punches and when I have a good day, I'm like a pocket rocket :)

I love Sons of Anarchy. Kurt Sutter (writer) is a bloody genius. I never buy TV series, but I will collect all the DVDs from this series, as I will the next....

A Game of Thrones is another of my big loves. George R. R. Martin is a great writer and the second series is almost over already *sniff*. I have 4 of the books so far and will collect them all. I thought the fantasy genre would be a bit hard to read but they are awesome books and they suck you right in as a reader.

Make up and nail polish make my heart sing. I do my make up almost every day and I do my nails at least once a week. I buy a lot of beauty products. I mean to take photos of the products I buy, my make up and nails a LOT more than I do. In my opinion, make up and nail shots need a mixture of natural daylight and flash to capture the nuances, and if there's no decent daylight.... no photos. Thankfully my new camera (which should be here by Wednesday) has much higher ISO settings so I should be able to take better photos in poopy lighting conditions. Perfect for sunless English 'summertime', ha! I look forward to taking more beauty shots photos of absolutely errrrrrrrrthang.

Clothes, clothes, clothes, especially dresses. I love clothes but I'm really awful at asking J to take photos of my outfits so most shots are bodged, like the ones above. My new camera has a remote control available, which I think I will purchase if it's not megawads, because then I can make use of my tripod and take my own outfit shots. One of the things I'm most looking forward to on honeymoon is having J around to take pics of my outfits every day :) I really want to take more outfit pics, as dress up is always fun.

Photography is another one of my big loves. 'Proper' DSLR photography, Instagram snaps where at least the filter is given some consideration and hastily-taken camera phone shots - whatever the format, I love taking photos. I used to be semi-serious about it - getting involved in taking shots for local alternative models and events, and doing favours for friends on the way to building myself a portfolio, but as my illnesses got worse the time I was expending taking photos of people out and about and editing them afterwards began to eat into my 'well' time too much. It was all gratis too, so it's not like I had financial compensation to sweeten the pill ;) Now I prefer to photograph inanimate objects unless someone asks really nicely ;) That way I can suit my activities to my health on any given day.

My friends, family and hubby are everything to me. I can deal with whatever life throws at me with these bobby dazzlers behind me.

What would sum you up in a nutshell?
